Erika Miklósa and János Balázs’s unique and innovative collaboration, their shared stage presence has become a highlight not only of the Cziffra Festival, but of the Hungarian classical music scene in recent years. There could be no better occasion to extend their musical and artistic links than the anniversary of the birth of the Festival’s namesake, which is the most, if not the most, eagerly awaited event of the annual series of programmes dedicated to the preservation of György Cziffra’s spiritual heritage. The evening, which will focus on the interplay between opera, the soprano voice and piano playing, will be complemented by the musical style of Argentine tenor José Cura, who will open up new perspectives by complementing the original concept. José Cura is a versatile vocal artist who has already proven himself to audiences in his home country as a conductor and even as a composer. He has sung on stage with Erika Miklósa and has been a chamber partner of János Balázs at the festival, so they understand each other well, but they have never performed together in this form. This new encounter, with its South American flavour, promises to be a unique musical adventure not only for them but also for the audience.
The Cziffra Festival Awards will be presented at the beginning of the concert.
