Rachmaninoff, Dohnányi and John Williams: A true musical firework awaits you in this concert, characterised by passionate melodies, playful lightness, great expertise and outstanding virtuosity.
Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto is an attempt to master the impossible with incredibly beautiful melodies and almost unplayable passages. Dohnányi is a master of orchestral sound and orchestration. His Symphonic Minutes simultaneously offer outstanding musical elegance as well as humour and warmth for the soul. John Williams’ music for Harry Potter is a soundtrack at its best, a real challenge for the orchestra and a delight for the audience.
The Dohnányi Orchestra, one of Hungary’s most popular and successful orchestras, returns to the Wiener Konzerthaus after last year’s successful concert. Tonight’s soloist is János Balázs, a world-famous and brilliant piano virtuoso, who will follow in the footsteps of György Cziffra with a unique interpretation of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto.
The concert will be conducted by Gábor Hollerung, a world-renowned music teacher and conductor.
The concert is part of the Cziffra Festival.
