Man in the 21st century has the privilege of knowing the whole Earth, every hidden corner of it. Yet the endlessly colourful world of animals still manages to surprise us. It has it all: it is both kind and cruel, humorous and dramatic – just like life. We can learn from it, we can recognise ourselves in its curved mirror. It’s no wonder that a host of poets and musicians have been inspired by the tiny and not-so-tiny inhabitants we share our planet with. Favourite pieces from this repertoire follow each other in this concert, played on an instrument capable of so many nuances, by a pianist renowned for his colourful and sensitive playing. And while there is perhaps nothing better than the language of sound to express the diversity of the animal kingdom, the words are also sparkling in János Lackfi’s flirtatious poems, starring chickens, swans, mules – or pianists …
