Almost a decade has passed since Erika Miklósa and János Balázs came together in a dialogue that not only revealed the common ground between the two brilliant artists, but also shed new light on the genre of opera and the intimate relationship between voice and piano through the chamber music form. After concerts that have filled the famous concert halls of the most important European cities, it is no exaggeration to say that the concept of the vocal-piano duet has been reinterpreted and thus reintroduced, a concept that, with the joy of improvisation and the individuality of the two artists, continues to attract the enthusiasm and curiosity of national and international audiences. They are usually selected from the Romantic and 20th century periods, with the aim of giving today’s audiences almost the same salon atmosphere that Verdi, Liszt or even György Cziffra’s audiences might have experienced. The programme is built up from arias, popular songs and virtuoso transcriptions, while following Cziffra’s spirit, crossing genre boundaries and creating a musical world of their own with the utmost humility and almost unashamed abandon.
