The unique television talent search and management programme Virtuózok (Virtuosos) has been running with unflagging popularity for ten years now. In that time, it has evolved into an internationally recognised and respected series dedicated to discovering and supporting young classical musicians. Part of this mission involves providing opportunities for young artists to perform in leading concert halls. Joining the young musicians on stage for this occasion will be the mentors and jury members who appeared alongside them on Virtuosos.
It is the constant objective of Virtuosos to seek out talent, help develop it, and to promote both classical music education and Hungary’s cultural and musical treasures all over the world. The programme’s most important undertaking is to provide talented young artists with training and opportunities to perform, both in Hungary and abroad.
Among the soloists scheduled for the May gala concert at Müpa Budapest are violinist András Keller, a Virtuózok jury member, along with the young violinists Amira and Mariam Abouzahra, sisters who have won the Virtuózok grand prize and special prize, respectively. On piano together with two of the television talent show’s newest discoveries, twelve-year-old Ádám Balogh and his eleven-year-old brother Máté, will be another Virtuózok jury member: János Balázs. We will also get to hear clarinettist Csaba Klenyán play alongside his two-time Virtuózok champion student Dániel Ali Lugosi. Another pair of siblings appearing tonight are the brother and sister duo of Evelin and Valerij Greblo: the eleven- and nine-year old Slovenian harpists took special prizes at Virtuózok V4+. Fifteen-year-old violinist Teo Gertler won the grand prize at Virtuózok V4+ 2023. The night’s special guest star will be Plácido Domingo.
