Once again, audiences in Zalaegerszeg can enjoy a special Cziffra Festival performance. The Zalaegerszeg Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ferenc Bognár, evokes the Romantic era with sweeping, lyrical melodies and true instrumental virtuosity.
The evening’s featured guests include Kossuth Prize-winning pianist János Balázs and the internationally renowned Italian flute virtuoso Giuseppe Nova, whom critics praise for his ethereal interpretations and unparalleled elegance.
The concert will feature Ferenc Doppler’s deservedly popular “Shepherd’s Dream”—a piece inspired by the melancholic yet fiery and lively rhythms characteristic of Hungarian folk music, which demands extraordinary technical mastery from the soloist—as well as a masterpiece from the early years of the turn of the century, Leó Weiner’s light-hearted Serenade in F minor, with its folk-inspired elegance. In the finale, Verdi’s immortal operas are brought to life anew, as the fantasies by Paul-Agricole Genin and Wilhelm Popp offer sparkling variations on themes from La Traviata and Rigoletto.
